Water is something that many people take for granted. If we continue to do this, there will be a shortage of clean water that will be available. I have provided a few hints of ways that you can conserve the amount of water that you are using in your everyday life.
- Water Consumption- Use the lower pressure setting on all of your faucets. If you are not using the water, turn it off. Keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator so that you have cold water without running the faucet.
- Low Flow Toilets- Will save you water by using a low flow or dual flush toilet.
- Showers- Replace your shower heads for ones that are low flow or us the mist feature. Showers are better than baths and time your showers and keep them as short as possible.
- Full Loads- Always do full loads of laundry or dishes. Use the lowest temperature and single rinse.
- Fix Leaks Quickly- If you have a leak, fix it promptly. This will save you from wasting water that would otherwise leak.
- Native Plants- When landscaping, stick to plants that naturally grow in your area. This will conserve the amount of water you use when watering.
- Best Time to Water- Water any plants at night to minimize evaporation

I love these things. When I first took over my allotment, the previous owner had installed a water butt to collect rainwater landing on the shed. When I wish to water my vegetables I just fill my watering can using the collected rain water.
