A type of chemical called plasticisers are added to cling film to make it flexible and transparent. Some of these chemicals have been found to cause cancer in laboratory animals.

Although there is little evidence indicating how much of a cancer-causing risk cling film is, it’s still not an eco-friendly material. So to cut down your exposure to cling film, get in the habit of using reusable plastic tubs. If you need to, then opt for using aluminium foil, which is actually recyclable.
