Did you know that there is evidence to suggest that plastic wrap (cling film) is carcinogenic? PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a significant constituent of clear plastic films, and PVC happens to be one of the most toxic forms of plastic. A type of chemical called plasticisers are added to cling film to make it flexible and transparent. Some of these chemicals have been found to cause cancer in laboratory animals.
Although there is little evidence indicating how much of a cancer-causing risk cling film is, it’s still not an eco-friendly material. So to cut down your exposure to cling film, get in the habit of using reusable plastic tubs. If you need to, then opt for using aluminium foil, which is actually recyclable.
