toothbrush

I’m not one for posting lists of tips, like “top ten ways to..” When you run a blog based on providing an eco tip every day, i’m afraid you have to try and spread the tips out as much as possible! However, in deviating from the norm, today we have the “Top TWO ways to save water whilst brushing your teeth!” :-)

1). This is a simple one really – Turn off the tap whilst brushing your teeth. Only turn on the tap when you need to wash your brush or rinse your mouth out. If you want to actually see what water this wastes then think about it a bit. You brush your teeth for two minutes right? If you’re good of course… So lets say you do go give your molars the full two minute treatment. If you weren’t brushing our teeth, and you stood there with a stop watch for two minutes, filling bottles of water with the tap on full go, how many bottles would you fill? Yeah – now you see where I am coming from….

2). I like to try and cater for all levels of eco-warrior out there…the majority who will adopt basic sensible green ideas, but won’t sell their house and go live in a forest, and then the real hardcore eco-warriors who are happy to depart from the norm….So for the latter, why not try cleaning your teeth in the shower? Wash yourself, and then whilst you are rinsing off the soap, give you’re teeth a quick scrub. It saves you time and saves water!
