Do get those green netting sleeves from your grocery store with lettuce in them? Did you ever wonder how you could upcycle or recycle them? Well how about creating one of these cool green greenies?
This greenie was crocheted using 3 green lettuce netting sleeves and a small amount of white cotton yarn. It’s a quick and easy project that makes into a handy pot scrubber. Here is the free pattern link with a picture tutorial for this project.
If you’re not into crocheting, you can also bunch several plastic veggie nets together by tying them in knots end to end. Then tie the long strand into knots looping the netting into one big bunch. Presto you have a self-made greenie! So whether you are into crocheting or just want a great upcycle project, try out this greenie pot scrubber tip.

What an awesome idea! Our lettuce comes wrapped in plain plastic (nice huh?) but I buy really big sacks of apples that have the BEST netting. I just use the pullstring on them to make a simple yoyo-type scrubby pad out of them. I swear, they work better than any commercial scrubber on the market and last forever!
It’s a very creative use of a very annoying bit of plastic. I’d like to see something similar with beer can plastic ties… although many beers are available in card boxes these days.
This is a pretty cool idea, and looks neat too. If I were more into crocheting, I would definitely try this out. How well does it hold up as a pot scrubber?
@Green Joe:
It actually holds up quite well as a scrubber. You can also do the knotting method to create yourself a scrubber if you don’t crochet. Just combine a few nets together by tying them in knots and then bunch it all together with more knots. It’s a free scrubber and works just as well or better than a store bought greenie!
